WHAT DO TIGERS HAVE TO DO WITH COTTON?
The first Tiger Cotton® farmers lived and worked near the habitat of Bengal tigers in Madhya Pradesh, India. Tiger Cotton® was named after them. The tiger symbolizes biodiversity and wildlife, which can regenerate when conventional farming shifts to organic practices.
The initiative began as a pilot project in collaboration with WWF India and has since grown into a full product range that supports farmers transitioning across India.
TIGER CORRIDORS
The map above shows our first project area. Tens of thousands of small cotton farmers live between two nature reserves. As tigers move from one reserve to another, cotton fields serve as important corridors. By eliminating harmful pesticides, cotton farming becomes safer for tigers, wildlife, and farmers alike.
By creating healthy habitat corridors that allow tigers to move freely between reserves, organic farmers play a key role in preserving this remarkable species.
MORE THAN 4,000 FARMERS HAVE TRANSITIONED
In Madhya Pradesh, Tiger Cotton® has already helped more than 4,000 cotton farmers transition to certified organic farming.
Direct collaboration with farmers is the future.
Tiger Cotton® aims to build direct partnerships with farmers, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to increasing biodiversity.
We are continuously seeking new farmers to join the transition. The project is expanding to new regions, with the goal of working closely with new farmer groups to accelerate the sustainable transition in India.
